If you're talking about cancer, benign may be a tumor but is not cancer. It is not malignant. It does not invade surrounding tissues or other parts of the body. It may grow but it stays put where it is (in the same place). It is of a mild character that does not threaten health or life. It is treatable, removable and has not spread.

Benign...Slow-growing, non malignant, tumor that does not spread to other parts of the body. If completely removed, benign lesions do not tend to recur. Incompletely removed tumors may recur but will not spread. Although benign, these tumors may cause permanent damage to some structures in the brain. It is a slow growing tumor. may take years to come out. Can affect your body (depends where it is ) eventually will go malignant.
In 10 yrs. my tumor has gone from golf ball size, to, fist size.
So, I have personal expirience (at least with tumors)
This maybe hard to accept, but, It CAN KILL YOU!! ( if it is not removed)
