It must be something to do with the distance from the beach i think. If a fish, cod bass etc comes in close, its to eat the peelers, if there are no peelers in any great number to eat, they will stay in deeper water and eat anything that is edible, its either that or starve. So the hard backs get eaten instead. Tight lines on ya next trip m8

Maybe they only eat the life hardback crabs and not the dead ones.

good question to be honest i dont konow but it depends on how hungry the fish and what is available great fish though

maybe its how you rig them for presentation is the problem

Dunno about that one,but i find that cod are one fish that eat anything.
