MDF is no good for the kitchen if it gets wet it is finished kitchen cabinets are made from melamine which is chipboard sealed in melamine Kitchen get steamy to so NO NO NO to MDF in the kitchen. It is ok for backs of wardrobes or cabinets but i think looks cheap any where else. Also WARNING if you are using it you must wear a mask when cutting/ sawing it breathing in the dust is bad news

Mdf board will be fine to use in your kitchen everywhere except around your sink. Most cabinet companies use MDF to make the boxes of their cabinets and real wood for the doors so it looks good. I would suggest around the sink to use a birch plywood. You can use MDF on your wardrobe as well.

MDF or HDF it is like blotting paper. It absorbs water moisture and get decayed within 5 years.
It is good where it does not have direct contact with water. Natural wood is best for option making kitchen cabinets if not you can choose good quality marine plywood.

MDF will only last for about 5yrs if you use your kitchen a lot, about 7 yrs. for wardrobe. I recommend that you use solid wood - IF- you have the budget. It still depends on the user. also the finish of the MDF, let's say, if it will be laminated - it should be HPL (high pressure laminate)/ machine laminated, so that the moisture will not damage the MDF.

Thats the best to use because MDF is straight and strong. It won't give you a good stain finish but you can paint it.

MDF is good, but I'd use solid wood for the doors.

This is one of the best collection of plans I’ve seen: https://tr.im/7iLpj
There is enough variety of projects in here, big and small, intricate and simple, and you can pick out new ones as you progress in your woodworking abilities.
It’s a great feeling knowing you made something by hand. It’s always fun to show off your craftsmanship, and ladies love it too!

I would do more checking. $5600 sounds high for replacement doors & drawers. I personally do not like poplar wood.
