Can we say "read the Bible" or "Read the Book of Mormon", or "Read this article from the Watch Tower". I don't mind a referance to support your point of view, but when I see question asked they want to know what you think not some idea that the asker can get an answer from reading the Bible, after all the Bible is spiritual discerned. and asker are normally not spiritual people. And those other referances are totally without authority.. So you should Tell the Truth in Love.... Jim

Most of you are right and I put that in the question. Add a scripture to add authority to your opinion. But have an opinion to share.. If it can't be supported in scripture you should rethink your own stance before answering You are most likely wrong... Jim

You're right.
Answers to questions about "faith" are subjective. But to be better informed we add quotes or reference to a holy book to justify the answer. Afterall, what we believe is based on information and although the more information you have may strengthen or weaken your faith, it ultimately decides what your 'heart' believes.

-For me personally, I love learning anything about faith, philosophy, and history wherever the source may be because I value being well informed.

When questions are answered, people usually answer them with what they believe. Many believe in the Bible or in the book of the Mormons. This may have helped them come to where they are now.

I can't speak for everybody, but I know if I answer a question, I try to use the Bible because I put my faith in God and the Bible is God's Word. Granted, I'm not perfect and I can't follow it the way that I would want, but I try my best; the Bible isn't just some idea to me.

I hope this has helped you come to some understanding as to why some respond this way.

And the Watchtower is a magazine with information based on the Bible so it is used sometimes as well. It's one of the ways to help have a better understanding of what God's Word states.

I currently understand the asker's question. However, some askers may also need to be directed in scripture partially related to their lack of knowing/recalling all scriptures. (Not that any of us presently 'know it all'). It is also not a 'I think so' demonstration on the answerers part.

Pointing to other sources is not even considered answering a question...A true answer means you address the query of the asker fully by giving him a peace of mind and satisfaction...such an answer will be applauded even if it may sound harsh...
