You know that is something i have asked myself many times. Pious righteous individuals go to church on wednesday and sunday just to ask forgiveness as they sin during the week. Lets not forget that they think they are above anyone else. Ive been to many churches and they all stink and so do christians. Chrisitainity has killed more people than the law allows. They need to get real. They are suppose to be loving and devoted and help their neighbors i too have seen many christians that talk about others have not helped them and dont even let me get started about the salvation army. I would like to take that bell they ring and shove it where the sun dont shine. They ask for money yet they dont help if a poor family really needs it. Then if they do help you they want to sit there and shove their religion down your throat just for you asking for help. If i had my way i would abolish christianity altogether out of this country.

First of all NOT ALL Christians are hateful and mean spirited. I ask for forgiveness for those of us that would speak bigoted comments. God created all equal, and He loves all the same. The Bible has been misinterpreted about women's roles as well. Jesus was VERY clear about the importance of women. The first 2 people that proclaimed the resurrection of Jesus were women. About condemning atheists, I only want what is best for them- and that is believing on the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible says, that Jesus did not come into the world to condemn it but to save it. But it also says, those that have Jesus have life, those who do not have Jesus does not have life. Segregation is wrong, I totally agree- people have used the Bible to do things that are not right, and justify it somehow. I pray that you will find Christians that are genuine and loving, because if I were not a believer I would also look to see how that person lives.

I happen to think that people seem to only remember those who profess to be a Christian and then act this way.

What I mean is that usually when you run into a loving, caring, helpful person that positively impacts your life for a moment you usually just think that that person is really nice. Rarely does one consider the fact that that person's motivation is their beliefs in Jesus Christ.

Also statistics say that 80% or more profess to be Christians....saying something and living a life based on it is two different things.

One more thing. Even the most devout Christians struggle with every sin under the sun. When you profess to be a Christian EVERYONE is watching you. You can do a thousand things right and then mess up once and people are ready to crucify you and call you a hypocrite. It's sad....but it's true.

I am not sure what Christians you are referring to...but if you mean the ones that are on the Religion and Spiritual post on Q& A then you need to read what the athiest say. If a question is posted to Christians for Christians...take a look at how many mean spirited and hateful answers there are and by who they are being posted by.
We see what we want to see don't we?
The Christians that I know are not mean spirited or hateful.
God Bless!

not all, so if you run across christains who are mean, that lets' me know they haven't let the love of God penetrate their hearts. You can't claim Jesus and not have the fruit of the spirit. But stop looking at another man and look at your own life, and see what's the problem with you before viewing others. Christains are sinners saved by grace. Until God liberate their minds they still will act out their old ways and habits and sin. I think people think when you get saved you automatically like Jesus. It takes time for God to work out the stuff He doesn't like about us. Think about gold and how you put it in the fire and burn all of the impurities until you have pure gold. Well that's what God does, He allows His children to go through the fire and the storms just to make us and mold us in the way He has us going. If you're not a believer you will not understand what I'm saying, but I promise you. God is love. So the christian you know are still going through the fire and God is still perfecting them

Imperfect people impassioned with a perfect message...

The central belief of Christianity is that Jesus is the ONLY way to heaven. No matter how nice you say it, that's bound to make a lot of people really angry.

When we are judgmental of those whose beliefs to do not match ours, we behave least like the Christians we claim to be. Which only feeds the stereotype of the close-minded Christian that people seem to hate so much.

Gee, I was thinking the same thing about Atheist who go around insulting the religious with their Sky Daddy and Fiction Book remarks, their views at how shallow and vapid Christians are. You know, I should cut and save some Atheist remarks, including Avatars and paste them into questions like this so you can see how those "disguising" themselves as Atheists are making Atheists look like real bullies.

That is a contradiction. If you are a Christian you are Christ-like. Christ is kind and loving, very patient and forgiving. Sometimes, because your life may not be in the will of God it is the Holy Spirit who convicts you of that sin through your own conscience. That is His purpose to draw you to Christ. To make you understand that you are in need of a Savior. God Bless And Jesus loves you.

Because you're looking for the meanness and hatred in the Christians. Start looking for the reason the Christians are Christians instead and I think you will find a lot of love, and generosity all about them.
People find what they are looking for no matter what. If you go looking for gold you will find it. If you go looking for pyrite you will find that as well.

Because in their world you are either with them or against them. Look at history to see what has happened to all the people and religions that were against them. Plainly put, they are mean spirited and hateful, they just hide it behind religious conviction.
