I'm Belfast born and bred and to be honest our accent can be very strong but also embarrassing! Speaking as fast as someone from Belfast is all about leaving out certain letters of certain words. E.G. The letter T at the end of some words should always be dropped - thus an important word like What becomes Wha. Double O's become U's - Look becomes Luk. Ou becomes A - You becomes Ya and Our becomes Ar.
A typical phrase in Belfast is "What are you looking at?" In this sentence we don't even use the verb "to be". Are is dropped completely out of the sentence and the sentence in Belfast slang reads Wha ya luking a?
It takes a lot of practice but I guarantee you that your American accent will make you more appealing to the men so hold onto it!!!!

Talk to natives - a lot! You will automatically pick up their accent and improve your speed. Talking to different people about different subjects will broaden your horizon and teach you local expressions for all kinds of things. Finance tip: Find friends via Skype to save money for the phone bill. If you don't know these people very well, you won't need to feel embarrassed, either.

The Irish will advise you to kiss the Blarney Stone. If you can't get as far as County Cork, they will try to persuade you that it is just as good to kiss someone who's kissed the Blarney Stone!
Don't fall for that one!
