This is the way cults operate.
And it is why you see them saying they "pity" us, and that they wish we could feel the "glory of his love" and so on, and so on.
It DOES feel good to be part of a "club". And I understand why they would pity us, because we're not part of their club. The fact is, I've been in their club, and I do miss the blissful ignorance I had back then, sometimes. There are times that I do miss being surrounded by my fellow cult members, who would shield me from reality, and help suspend my disbelief, that everything that cult was about was based on lies and mythology.
Yes, sometimes I miss being a Christian. But the fact is, I can't be one. I've learned too much. I've seen outside the bubble. And now... I pity them. And I think it's unfortunate that I probably won't live to see the day that the human race, as a whole, finally reaches a stage of enlightenment. I find it unfortunate that I probably won't live to see all of humanity come together as one "club", that values being good to each other, rather than basing their entire existence on the lie that there is a man in the sky looking out for them.
I really just wish we could all be good, for goodness' sake.

The only thing "unique" about me is that I realize I'm not unique, ultimately. I'm just one of 6&1/2 billion humans trying to find his way through life.

i think you are close to the truth with this.
There are people who undermine righteousness with false witness and testimony.
Even if a person is True, honest and sincere and full of faith, people have excuted witches and declared them evil.
but whether you are in a cult religion or you dont know it is, or not, its all around us in america. it is the babylon or revelation and people of god follow her even to the end of their lives and are amazed at how much evil goes on around them.

Yes. and with these thoughts still in their minds, they go out into the world and do everything the rest of us "evil" people do. So obviously it's just an ego stroke for them (till someone in the real world shows them they aren't any more special than the next person)
As for it saying "if you aren't with me, you're against me".... well, I suggest you read your Bible... he says "If they aren't against us, they are for us" more often than the other. ;)

it depends upon where they live, probably. i think that that is one example of groupthink. i wouldn't single out Christians as the only people who ever do this.
look up the phrase "groupthink" on wikipedia or something for more info.
