It's kinda like this imagine Satan walking around and it scompletely dark. All fo the sudden a small fire pops up. Satan sends a demon to put it out. Of course if this light doesn't go out Satan sends more. And as the light grows Satan throws more demons at it. This is why we backslide. Satan pulls us down. God can pull you back up though.

Relationships take effort, and as a Christian, our relationship with God is the most important one in our life. Or at least it should be. Personally, I forget that sometimes, and it causes me to feel farther away from God. Our sins can separate us from God.
Or perhaps the relationship has gotten a little stale. Try something new - a new devotional book, a new prayer partner, attend a different church for a couple of weeks...

Hi, in 2Thes 1:3 it says that our faith grows. Rom 10:17 says that faith comes by hearing God's word. So if something comes that means it also goes. This is why we have to continue to renew our minds by hearing and reading God's word. Otherwise faith won't come and obviously won't continue to grow. Then the pull of the world will get us into a backsliden condition. We'll have some dry times when God doesn't feel as close as He once did, but we as Christians can't go by what we feel only by what is true. God will see us through this time just as He has seen us through others. Only we have to keep the FAITH!! Hearing reading and trusting in His word.

I have learned to keep "short accounts with God". I think that people feel guilty and quit studying the Bible and praying. I use 1John1:9"If we name our sins he is just and righteous to forgive us our sins and cleanses us from all unrighteousness". God knows that we are sinners. Our sin nature never leaves us. He made a fool proof plan for fools. He is not shocked by our sins. People need to realize that the issue of sin was solved at the Cross.
The filling of the Holy Spirit is important. 1John1:9 is the key. God wants us to be relaxed, happy, trust Him. The Christian way of life can be absolutely wonderful if we know the plan of God. Someone said if there is distance between you and God, Who moved? It was not God. Get over you sin. Fulfill His plan. Study the Bible, pray and partake of the Sacrament.
Be happy. It does take a commitment to study daily. Peace out.

We backslide because the pull of the world is very strong. When we sin or reconnect with worldliness we seperate ourselves from God. We create that wall or void that makes us feel far from God.
Friendship with the world is Enmity towards God!
Hope this helps....

Maybe the reason that we feel so far from God is that we don't check in with Him regularly. If you have a friend that you don't see or call every so often you lose touch and don't feel as close. Maybe if you read at least one chapter and day and prayed all through the day (I don't mean get on your knees at work and pray for several minutes. I mean pray with your heart and mind and talk to God like you would your best friend 'cause that's what He is.

The death that Adam and Eve felt was a spiritual death...a separation from the Lord. Sin is equal to death so that will cause a separation. What fellowship does light have with darkness? He is a holy God. He will only contend with us for so long.
Now if you're not in sin then you just need to spend time with Him. I think we should always examine ourselves and what we say in prayer. Is it all about me? Am I always asking for things? Well, I should be asking the Lord what His will is for my life today. It's all about Him...not me

backsliding is when WE break fellowship (not son ship) with God. by either having un-confessed sins in our lives or practices that go against God's word. the Bible states that "the wages of sin is death". death, meaning separation from God. and this is when we should repent (turn around) and go back.

I think it is a natural course of relationships. Even romantic relationships and marriages experience stages of pulling away and coming to gether. It is the process of maturation, in my view. I don't think it is a sign of weak or faulty faith. Many of the Biblical writers, especially in the Psalms, deal with the feeling of God's hiddennes.

A relationship with Christ is like a marriage relationship.
A faithful spouse remains faithful even when the passion has been temporarily snuffed know marriage is a commitment not a "Feel Good" relationship.
Gray contact me as you have NO understanding of the verse you have used..There is always hope.
