If the cats are not bothering anyone or being a nuisance, I would say to just leave them alone. Most animal shelters won't take wild cats because they are not adoptable, or if they do, they will just put them to sleep :(
There are a growing number of animal groups that make efforts to help feral cats with a method that is called TNR - "Trap, Neuter, Release". What they do is capture the wild cats in a safe trap, then take them to be spayed or neutered. A small portion of the tip of one ear is snipped off so that in case the cat is captured again, any other people involved can tell it has already been neutered. Then the cats are released back into their home area, or sometimes are relocated to a better/safer area if they were living in an area that is not good for them.
There is a wonderful group that promotes this ethical treatment of feral cats nationwide, called Alley Cat Allies. I've provided a link to their website below. If you check them out, they should be able to tell you how you can find a group in your area that can help deal with your wild cats.

Call animal control, they will find the cat and deal with the situation.
Cats can be dangerous especially if they are free to roam the wild. They can pick up disease if they kill and infected rat or bird, not to mention if they arent neutered they will spray their turf and that can lead to other problems.

Ferrel cats are a problem. It does depends on how far you're willing to go. You could poison them or shoot them but those ways are illegal unless you're protecting livestock. There's the DNR. You could let them know about the problem and they'll set out an array of traps.

Call the ASPCA.
They'll catch the animal and give it shelter and food, which keeps it from getting hurt or hurting other animals or people.
