Salt water gargles, and more importantly not talking, whispering will put more stress on the vocal cords and it will take longer for it to go away.

Home treatment is usually all that is needed for laryngitis. This includes resting your voice, adding moisture to your environment (humidification), taking throat lozenges, avoiding smoking or exposure to secondhand smoke, and drinking fluids.

Boil slices of ginger root for about 15 minutes. Put the water in a cup and mixed it with a little lemon and honey, if you like. Drink it like tea. You will regain your voice in 30 minutes.
This always works for me. I drink it strong without honey or lemon. Let me know if it helps.

Gargle salt water, drink hot tea with lemon and honey, and just plain rest your voice.
