I want to get the publics opinion about this. Would you want the option of using a breathalyzer at a restaurant or bar if you had been drinking? If so, would it be worth $1.00 to use it?
If you don't drink, would you think its a good addition to any bar to offer to thier patrons?

I guess some people have the wrong idea for this breathalyzer. Here is the page i'm putting together that will explain everything better and show some pictures of the machine. http://www.sobrietyalert.com

That would be SO unsanitary..
I honestly would never use it, I know how to call a taxi. I could see friends of mine treating it like a bar game though, just to see who had the highest BAL.
I think the people out there who are going to drink and drive are going to drink and drive anyway, even if they did know how drunk they were. :(

If you're going to implement this in bars and restaurants, make it mandatory to use it. You want to leave, have car keys in your hands, blow. As a bartender, I've seen it and I know that the same people who would with no doubt, blow over, are the same people who would walk right by it laughing at it. The same people who think it's a good idea, have had one drink over three hours and will use it. It's also a dangerous approach to take on the business end to. It's the houses responsibility, specifically the bartenders to ensure you do not drive home drunk. Many places facing a lawsuit will try to use the breathalyzer as a way out of their responsibility and lack on drink controls. No court will agree with it and many places will loose their licences. Good idea but as usual, it's the people that will make or brake it. Both drunk and sober. Common sense says don't drink and drive. How many of us have? Common sense doesn't work. Responsibility is the only practice that we have to use.

It sounds like most ppl don't know how breathalyzers work. I think it's a great idea to have them in bars. The owners of the machine and the bar are not liable because the breathalyzer was not administered in a controlled environment.

Actually, I think it would be a good idea. I saw one in a restaraunt once in SD. They have straws in paper wrapping there that you use to blow into the machine, so it IS sanitary. I think it would be ok, I mean, you could take the test, see that you are border-line and decide to either stop drinking at that point and "sober up" to drive home, or decide to call a cab. Yes, $1 would be worth it. I think they should have them in all restaraunts and bars, then it may help deter you. Maybe not, but it would be nice to have the option of knowing where you "stand".

I don't think they would quite take off but I see your point. Sometimes I have a couple of drinks and I feel fine to drive, which I probably would be just on two drinks. However, I wouldn't know if I was pulled over by the police whether I would be over or not. I probably wouldn't be but testing yourself before you drive would let you know for def. And if you were over you can get a cab, instead of just thinking, I've only had two I 'should' be ok, and then that not being the case.

First, you must think of the science of the technology.

To get an accurate breathalyzer reading, you must refrain from drinking for about 20 minutes.

Secondly,
You'd make more $ by selling another drink than you would by having them wait twenty minutes and only making a buck.

Thirdly,
If the readings promote a drinking competition, your liability for responsible drinking flys out the window.

I wouldn't do it.

If new nozzles could be put on the end, sure. It should be free and administered by bar staff so there is no question that the person is to drunk to drive.
I was reading yesterday that Toyota is thinking about putting devices like that in their new vehicles. In my opinion I believe that all cars/trucks should have it. It's worth it if it saves lives.

i grew to become into at a cheesy 70's themed bar that had a style of (the genuine one on your website) and that i used it out of interest - i'm a 5'3", one hundred twenty pound woman - i could merely had a double vodka tonic and then on the instant shared a great 'fishbowl' drink with a chum, I thoroughly felt the exhilaration, and the device confirmed that my BAC grew to become into ridiculously low, under the criminal decrease in Tennesse at that factor. i'd desire to think of a few below the impression of alcohol fool utilising a defective or miscalibrated device and identifying they're high quality to rigidity. merely because of the fact there are warnings everywhere in the device announcing 'do no longer rigidity no rely what', there are people who will see a BAC it extremely is at, under, or slightly over the criminal decrease and choose that in the event that they don't have a drink for an hour or 2, they are going to be high quality. i think of it is a risky, money-making rip-off. As for something of your question, it is a great theory to grant unfastened sodas, juice, and coffees to detailed drivers, or perhaps coupons for unfastened nutrients or important low value rates on next visits. you additionally can supply the comparable coupons to those who call cabs to motivate the prepare, it would tip the stability in somebody's ideas in the event that they're on the fence between cabbing it or utilising. If the bar attracts a binge eating crowd, confirm the staff and bouncers shop a seem out for youthful women (and adult men, for that rely) who're thoroughly below the impression of alcohol and abandoned via their pals who may well be shifting into difficulty. i've got worked in a great number of bars, it is uncomplicated to become conscious of the predators and their prey, and it is properly worth attempting to cut up them of direction, i understand that bars and golf equipment merely would desire to make money and would desire to care much less pertaining to to the well being, protection, and happiness of their buyers, so none of this could ever be applied. nevertheless, it may be high quality.

Yes! That would be a great idea! Nobody would have to worry about whether or not they are over the legal limit! I'd pay $1 for that and I know many people who would!

And it wouldn't be unsanitary if you were able to get one that had the option of giving everyone different "straws" to blow into.

i think its a good idea more so in the bars than resturants unless the resturant has a bar in it. i would probably use it because i wouldnt want to risk hurting myself or someone else because i drove drunk. actually i think they should make it mandatory in bars for you to take a brethalyzer befor you leave. i think it would cut down on the number of dwi's and dui's
