Make sure you check out Johnson Canyon. Hike up to the upper falls, or all the way to the inkpots if you are feeling adventurous. Most tourists don't make it past the lower falls (which is where the stairs end) so don't be put off by the huge crowd. Lake Louise is also very pretty.
The problem with Banff in July is that you will think you are in Japan. There are so many Japanese tourists it's ridiculous.
Don't bother with the Banff Springs. The spring ran dry 5-8 years ago, so now it's just a hot tub. There's no spring water in the pools anymore.
Oh, and make sure you check out my favourite candy store in Canada - It's on Banff Ave in town, next to the Cows store (you'll know what I mean when you get there).

Although Banff is esentially full of ski results, there are fun things to do in the summer, such as a visit to the Cave and Basin National Historic site and the Banff Upper Hot Springs.

I echo the sentiment that Lake Louise is a must see! And ... budget the time and money to rent a canoe and row out into it! don't forget your camera!
Also, go to the Columbia Ice Fields if you can.

You can't pass by Lake Louise without seeing it. It is staggeringly beautiful (and I'm jaded; I've spent my whole life around beautiful scenery, but Lake Louise is in a class of its own).
