When i got my wisdom teeth out 4 days ago, i was surprised at how little pain i had the first day. The next morning i woke up feeling allright with just a bit of pain and my gums still slightly bleeding. An hour after waking i got a significant fever- i called the dentist and was prescribed to penicillin. After taking penicillin and one ibuprofen my fever and pain subsided. Since then while still taking penicillin i continue to get fevers about two times a day. It is now the 4th morning since my wisdom teeth were taken out and i woke up in the worst pain yet, my glands and throat are now swollen and it hurts to swollow, i have stomach upset and nasea as well as a fever, and because of the nasea i know if i take the penicillin/ibuprofen that i will just vomit it up. If you've had a similar experience, let me know how you corrected it. Should i go to my Gen Practitioner? Call my dentist again?

DO NOT take any more penicillin. The symptoms you have indicate that you are extremely allergic to it. Call the dentist back, let his office know what your symptoms are. Have him put you on a different antibiotic. You probably won't even have to visit. They should be able to call it in to the pharmacy of your choice, you'll just need to pick it up.

I would go to both to be honest with you, I would tell the dentist they need to see you today not monday because most office close early today, and i would also call your gen doctor as a follow up apt on monday. If you feel better after seeing your dentist , then cancel the apt but if your symptoms keep alternating like they have been i would think you need to follow up and make sure something else isnt happening also dont forget if anything happens over the weekend definately get to the emergency room, better safe than sorry i say.

Only ice will reduce swelling, you should have put ice as soon as you got home from the dentist. My face didn't swell up at all when i got my teeth extracted (all 4 at once), but I was in so much PAIN!!! Just ice ice ice, that's about all you can do until it goes away.

Call the dentist again. Remember its Friday and some offices aren't open. You could be having a reaction to the meds or a dry socket.

I am just a lay person, not a doctor, but what you said sounds pretty aweful, so if I was you, I would go to a general practitioner immediately. If you are already on antibiotics but its suddenly worse, especially something swelling and effecting your throat, dont mess around, get a professional opinion pronto.
