It's impossible for a person to follow all 10. Everyone lies at some point, and what child hasn't spoken out against his parents?

Only half of the Ten Commandments are necessary to be a decent person. Not killing, not stealing, no adultery, and not lying are all very good lessons. They're such good lessons that other cultures had them long before the Ten Commandments were devised.

What about the other Commandments?

Well, honoring your parents is a great way to get kids to behave, but the Commandment loses its meaning if the parents are not worthy of honor. Abusive parents should not be honored.

Coveting is an important motivator. It is how we obtain better jobs. It is how people work harder. This Commandment is actually harmful to people.

The first four are only important to Jews and Christians. If you believe in a wrathful god who will punish you eternally, then these Commandments are useful. For the rest of the population, these Commandments do not help you become a moral person.

I guess I've broken the first one, since I don't believe in god (oh well, at least I haven't worshipped or taken any other god over this one since I don't believe in any of them).

I don't keep the Sabbath day holy (do Christian fundamentalists even do that nowadays??).

I honor my mother, but I stopped honoring my father after he stopped honoring me or anyone else in the home.

I stole once as a kid. I felt so guilty over taking something that wasn't mind that I returned what I stole.

I haven't broken any of the other commandments. I'm not a Christian by the way, so those commandments are not holy to me, but some of them are good and are pretty similar to the life rules I've set for myself.

I don't think of myself as a bad person. Quite the opposite really, but of course I'm far from perfect.

js: Make no mistake about it ... ALL people are "bad". And yes; I break the 10 Commandments everyday. I am a Christian and at the same time human. It's my "humanness" which gets the best of me, in my walk spiritually, with Jesus Christ, daily. Not perfect - but forgiven ... would be the call . Remember; it is not the world which is "bad" but the people in it. Prisons and jails are full of people, who "never did a thing wrong" ! Reminds me of a court cast where, the judge let a convict, who admitted to committing a crime, out of jail and freed him. When asked by the prosecutor why he [judge] allowed the guilty convict to go free, the judge replied, " I can't stand to see a guilty person in jail with all those innocent people " !!!

Oh, my God I've broken all but the following:

I have not killed (except bugs, squirrels by accident)
I have not committed adultery.
Ihave not coveted my neighbors husband
I have not coveted my neighbors good.

You need to remember that the ten commandments are a guideline on how to live your life. Everyone has broken one or more of them but this does not make us a bad person it just makes us human. That is why God gave us all "Free Will". We have all made by decisions and have regretted them. Remember God is a merciful and loving Father and he knows when we are truly sorry for our actions. God is always there and He will never abandon you.

I've never killed a person or an animal (other than an insect) intentionally.

I've never made a graven image, nor have I intentionally bowed down to or worshipped a graven image.

Other than that, I've probably broken the rest at one point or another.

I have asked for forgiveness for my sins, and continue to do so. Since I've asked, and my repentance has been genuine, I've been forgiven.

So no, that doesn't make me a bad person.

All of them repeatedly. I'm a Christian and yes I am as bad as the next. The difference is my faith in the Saviour has cleaned me; and this cleansing is done on a daily basis as long as I ask my Lord for it. My faith is my decision, my decision is to try to do better; I know I will never be perfect but striving for that is making me a more faithful man. This is not to say that my decisions make me a better man than the next, it means I am forgiven and so is the one who makes the same decisions in that regard.

Are you writing a book about sinners? Or, do you want to know what others are doing so you don't feel so bad about yourself? Don't worry about others, if you are serious about spiritual life try breaking the commandments less as time passes by.

I don't believe I have coveted anything of my neighbors, nor have I beared false witness, as for the other 8. I can't with any honesty say my hands are clean.

too many times to count. That's why Christians love Jesus cause He forgives us. I don't now why people blast God when He sent His son, so that when you do sin. Your sins are atoned for.
