Why are people trying to gain more points daily? What happens if they get high scores? What happens if they move to the next level?

The more score, the higher the level. Once you are at Level 7, then you are competing to be NUMBER ONE in your section.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

You just have high points. Nobody really looks at your points when they look at your answers or questions. And sometimes, if you have really high points as some of the people in the science area do, you will get "showcased" on the page somehow.

Nothing.
I have nearly a thousand points, (nearly at level3 - not quite) and only four percent is best answer (which is pretty crap).

People with high points are very driven and don't ask many questions (but usually reside around 4% also).
