As a 50's lifestyle rock and roll dancer, who wears the vintage clothes, and owns the cars from the 1950's era, I can help you. Most of us girls wear our hair in a simple ponytail, with a fringe. The men have Elvis style quiffs, with lots of Brylcream. The library should be a good source of information. Find the history, fashion and film sections from the era. The Internet is always a great help, by simply typing in the appropriate various search words. Are there any 50' rock and roll clubs near where you live? It is worth a visit, to see how we all look. Look at the film 'Grease' for ideas. The hair styles look most effective with the makeup and clothes from the same era.

Men had duck-tail, or flat-tops.
Women had " big hair " like beehives, or teased and sprayed.
