Although some may think we will never really have to chose such as in this question. it IS happening in many places today.
More are being killed today then ever before because of their faith in Jesus. Worse yet. some have to chose between denying Christ and having a loved one murdered. It would be easy to say I will not deny my LORD but I admit even as a pastor, it would be harder if it was someone I loved.
Yet I know the Lord promised...promised that HE would give us more grace as the burden grew greater. I know many have either died or watched loved ones die because they did not and would not deny the Christ of the Bible.. and just as in the past, GOD would be able to use it to bring others too HIM that would never have accepted Him otherwise.
My friend....you say you are out of fellowship with God? He is still....just a whisper away....come back to HIM by using 1 John 1:9 to restore your fellowship with HIM. If I can help...please contact me

"We must obey God as ruler rather than men," Acts 5:42
I am a strong believer in Jesus being the Son of God and that he gave up his life so that we could be forgiven of our sins (John 1:29-34).
We are imperfect humans and God knows this (Psalms 103:13, 14). Yes, Peter denied Jesus due to his imperfections, but after, it says that "he went outside and wept bitterly" (Matthew 26:75).
We can hope that we won't deny Christ when being persecuted, but we can't really say whether we will or won't. When the time does come, because it will (it has been prophesied in the Bible), we have to keep our faith in God and strengthen it every day. When we sincerely pray to Jehovah God for help, He will be there.
"No temptation has taken YOU except what is common to men. But God is faithful, and he will not let YOU be tempted beyond what YOU can bear, but along with the temptation he will also make the way out in order for YOU to be able to endure it." 1 Corinthians 10:13

I would not deny my Lord. Even though Peter denied him when he was crucified, he later suffered and was killed for his faith in Jesus. All the desciples except John the beloved were killed for the sake of the gospel. Christians were killed in the dark ages for the cause of the gospel and I will do the same even today.

I think if it came right down to it I would NOT deny Christ, because of the definition of "live". This life is short and will end some day anyway, and the one we beliefve comes next is much more permanent, so trading this one for entering the next in good standing with god seems a good idea - even though it would be terrifying to get killed for. I hope I would be able to stick to my beliefs.

Anyone who uses your faith in such an extent that they'd kill you should not be taken seriously. That's why I would choose to deny and keep on living and proclaim my beliefs. What you have denied with words is not necessarily denial by thought or conviction.
What good would you be for your religion if you died just to prove you are of good faith?

I'm with jinenglish, and the Apostle Peter. I don't believe that I would deny Christ, But only He knows. Like Paul wrote in Romans 7, the things I would do, I don't do, but the things I hate, those I do.

I would NOT deny God for any reason in the world. I have already accepted him into my heart as my Lord and saviour. If it meant to deny him and live or not deny him and die...I would gladly die for him.

I would hope that I would not deny Him. However, even Peter denied Jesus, and he is the rock upon which Christ built his Church.

Mark 8: 35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.
36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
