Well, we know God doesn't lie.
Accordingly, that would make the so-called prophet who came second the liar.

There are many names given to Jesus using the phrase “He shall be called,” both in the Old and New Testaments. This was a common way of saying that people would refer to Him in these various ways. Isaiah prophesied of the Messiah, “His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). None of these titles was Jesus’ actual name, but these were descriptions people would use to refer to Him forever. Luke tells us Jesus “shall be called the Son of the Highest” (Luke 1:32) and “son of God” (1:35) and “the prophet of the Highest” (1:76), but none of these was His name.

Here the explanation the Qu'ran. God had told Mary her baby will be the Messiah.
Delivering the Good News to Mary of Jesus's Birth
This Ayah contains the glad tidings the angels brought to Mary that she would give birth to a mighty son who will have a great future. God said,
((Remember) when the angels said: "O Mary! Verily, God gives you the glad tidings of a Word from Him,) a son who will come into existence with a word from God, `Be', and he was. This is the meaning of God's statement (about Yahya)
(Believing in the Word from God.) [3:39], according to the majority of the scholars.
(His name will be Al-Masih, Jesus, the son of Mary) and he will be known by this name in this life, especially by the believers. Jesus was called "Al-Masih'' (the Messiah) because when he touched (Mash) those afflicted with an illness, they would be healed by God's leave. God's statement,
(Jesus, the son of Mary) relates Jesus to his mother, because he did not have a father.
(Held in honor in this world and in the Hereafter, and will be one of those who are near to God.) meaning, he will be a leader and honored by God in this life, because of the Law that God will reveal to him, sending down the Scripture to him, along with the other bounties that God will grant him with. Jesus will be honored in the Hereafter and will intercede with God, by His leave, on behalf of some people, just as is the case with his brethren the mighty Messengers of God, peace be upon them all.

Dunno, yet, I know this, actually what the angel did was to deny fatherhood, for he was actually Mary´s lover and father of the unborn son. Mary then just made the rest of the story up just not to be seen as a B**CH, of course later she divorced Joseph and went on with a different name, Magdalen. Dan Brown surely new this... Very wise man. Regards, Gabriel.

According to the Quran, the angel did approach Mary to tell her she would have a son and that he would be a prophet to mankind - not God.
So yes this sets the record straight. :)
