I recently had a problem where my Windows XP went "black screen" and the repairman said that it was best in the case of XP to not load up any Spyware removal or Registry repair programs as they do more harm than good. Is this true? He said that one really only needs a good anti-virus program and the XP service pack.
Any clarity on this, with good logical reasoning, would be much appreciated. thx

I have run Ad-aware for ages on my computer and its never messed up any of my programs......I don't have it set to run automatically but I run it often.....you would be surprised at what spyware is on your computer if you haven't run one before.....it slows your computer down with junk
