You are entitled to a free credit report once a year from each of the 3 credit bureaus. If you want to check your credit regularily, ask for one free report from a different bureau every 4 months and that covers you for the year.
Write them a letter asking for your free report. You will need to provide your full name, any alternative names credit might appear under, date of birth, social security number and address along with your signature.

Go to your local bank and have a loan officer help you.
Don't be going online to this "Free credit report" crap !! Do not give out your s.s.# to anything online except an online broker for trading stocks.
Just head to your bank and they may charge you a small fee for looking it up but if you are a good customer they may just do it for free.
