We use oral pentosan polysulfate sodium for initial therapy of interstitial cystitis. We suggest intravesical instillation in addition to oral pentosan polysulfate sodium for patients with significant symptoms, because the instillations give more immediate relief before the oral pentosan polysulfate sodium starts to exert its therapeutic effect. (See "Pentosan polysulfate sodium" above).
We suggest amitriptyline for patients with significant pain or bothersome nocturnal symptoms, given its sedative effects and ability to raise pain thresholds. (See "Amitriptyline" above).
We suggest dietary changes in patients who note symptom exacerbations related to intake of specific foods or beverages (coffee, citrus fruits, tomatoes and spicy foods) (Grade 2C). (See "Dietary modifications" above).
Besides some medicines mentioned above and life style changes, you can cosider some urologic procedures through your doctor too, good luck

although drug therapy is still the best way to treat your illness you can also do these things to help.
Drink lots of fluids, water preferably,
when urinating make sure the bladder is completely emptied
take 1 tsp sodium bicarbonate every 6 hours
empty your bladder as soon as possible after intercourse
empty your bladder often, don't hold it.
Interstitial means the infection is inside the wall of the bladder.
these things won't cure it, but will help
