Don't you think an omniscient god would see through such shallow, and self-serving faith?

Actually most christians dont believe that its the fear of hell that draws them to God. Even though its in the back of their minds.
They just mention it, you know, out of love.
:)
And initially its not the fear of hell that draws them in, its curiosity and the mention of love. Hell is brought up later.

Kind of like the mother who poisens her children. She does it because she wants to show them how much she loves them and how much the child needs her,. not to make them sick. Obviously its wrong, but yeah, the christian doesnt believe they come to God out of fear of hell, but because he loves them enough not to punish them for not loving him.

Of course its ridiculous.

Actually that is the wrong reason to believe. Hell is complete seperation from God and we should fear that, but to say that one believes only because of that is not a true belief in the first place. If anyone believes only because they fear Hell, well, that is where they will find themselves if they do not come to an understanding of there own sinfullness and believe that Jesus Christ paid for their sins on the cross.

I don't think it's a good reason to believe. I believe because the gift of God is eternal life and because he's a kind father who loves his children and only wants the best for them. The fact that you DON'T go to hell is a perk in addition to the many blessings you receive in this life as a believer.

Maybe if you ever get the opportunity to visit hell you'll be more apt to understand the theory behind it.

I believe, not because of the hell I haven't seen, but rather because of the hell that I have. Once you've been there you really don't want to go back. And if I ever get out alive, I certainly have no intentions of going back.

Usually very religious people are dam people, and people that love to get abused by others...so hell is another excuse for them for the bad relations and situations that love toget involved with.... they feel as more unhappy life they will create for them and others....a lot better life God will give them after death...I hope you are not one of them.

Don't you think you should be concentrating on enjoying your life and appreciate the blessings you have in your life. Life doesn't have to be a dictatorship between mankind and his faith. Just use your best judgment and think outside the box.

Hell is real. God does not send us there. We send ourselves by rejecting Christ as lord and savior.

yes, god might, but if you pay lip service and donate money, you wont get burnt at the stake or crucified, unless the church wants your hovel and patch of land.
