TXT Talk is fine ON MOBILE PHONES

But in other places it's just laziness and ignorance.

The problem is that they are now not marking people down for it if they use it in exams, other than English of course.

This all echos back to George Orwell's book 1984. In the book English is no longer spoken and in it's place is a language called Newspeak and everyone speaks it.
It's almost like the film Bladerunner, the language is known as City Speak a combination of German Italian & japanese as well as american slang.

It's not exactly ruining it or the death of it, but it is enrichening it in must the same way slang or dialect does. Modernisation of the standard form has happened to English since it was Celtic spoken in the U.K.

It also makes it interesting for kids, and some might say at least it's got them reading.

It's OK for phones but when I see it written or in my email it does get on my nads a bit. 80)

I've got a degree in English. I work in software, and I have a background in Process Engineering.
All are precise disciplines.
And if the dearth of language capability does not allow text messengers to participate in jobs such as that, can you say McDonald's?

Its not texting that's ruining it, its the uneducated illiterate fools that type like that. i bet a lot of people who do it can't spell properly anyway.
