I have been told that a lettuse sandwich helps you sleep cause a substance in one reacts with another and is a natural sedative. Don't know if it is true or an old wives tale. Sorry I can't help more.

It can help if you have sleeping trouble, but it wont ever have a dramatic effect, its becuase its related to the opium family of plants, the better stuff is nearer to the root or the core.

No. If it did, eating salad before bed would be all the rage. Turkey and other foods containing triptophan do make you sllepy.
