Mr Darcy, those beautiful creatures are not butterflies but Brazilian carnival queens....ladies that like to dress up and samba a lot...you would think that someone would notice when they caught them that they do not have furry butterfly tummies!...and I recommend a large net to catch those feisty exotic creatures, I believe they bite

I would go for a H&H .465 double rifle and have one of the porters close at hand with a Rigby .416 as a back up in case I missed with both barrells of the Holland and the butterfly charged.

If you are really cautious and weight is not an issue, the S&W Mod 500 revolver could be your final defence against a really determined adersary.

Make a loop with an old coat hanger wire, cut off a 'leg' from a pair of old panty-hose and sew it around your wire loop. Now you have a crude net suitable for capturing butterflies. Final Note: Strap a good .44 Magnum revolver to your hip. If you see any butterflies with an eight-foot wingspan, then do what you gotta do. If that don't work then see me about borrowing a good 4 bore double. LOL!

Braver man than I, to openly admit you're going butterfly hunting.

I would suggest the double barrel shotgun loaded with rock-candy!

In Texas, they've been know to carry off small children and other animals.(yes I said other ANIMALS...I've got grand-kids, I'm allowed)
Anyway they aren't as dangerous as the mosquitoes!

12 gauge auto with 3-1\2" 5 shot mags are good. or a machine gun as they sometimes travel in packs. dont forget to yell 4! before opening up as there may be some tree huggers with nets out there.

You will be wasting your time, all the butterflies are on their winter holidays, they will be back next summer.

I would take a tank. Butterflies can be pretty dangerous when you invade their terriroty.
