Actually, it'll be a 1099-G, not a W-2, but yes, you claim it as income on your return. Assuming you made enough to have to file, it's MUST claim it, not CAN claim it.

I filed for unemployment about 3 yrs ago. Yes they send you something like a w-2 I believe I got it at the end of January.

You have to claim it on your taxes. The government will send a record to the IRS of how much you were paid.

Taxes are not take out of unemployment compensation. So, you may find yourself owing...

They send you you're W-2 to the address you listed on your registration. Kinda works the same way as a regular job W-2...I would usually get mine later than my job....
