I don't think its sad to be at home at 26 ... what I find sad is those who live at home like they're 5 year olds ... they do nothing to help around the house or be responsible for anything. I knew a guy who was over 30 his mom made his bed, did laundry, cleaned his bathroom, cooked and made his lunch for work ... he rarely if ever ran to the store to buy anything needed for the house (would ask his parents to run out immediately for things he needed like deodorant or what not) and didn't contribute because his parents said "it was ok" ... all that combined is sort of sad and not really adult like -

Depends. Are you like my pathetic 26 yo brother who eats all my parents food, doesn't help pay any bills, leaves his dirty laundry everywhere while he spends all his time drinking and driving around with friends?

Then I'd say yeah, you're sad.

If you help your parents around the house, contribute financially and are actually DOING college instead of using it as an excuse to live at home without paying bills, then it's not that bad. I don't know how people look at it, I was out of the house at 17 for college. I know my brother doesn't date.

Your 26. Time to get out on your own and give the parents a break. You should have your own place by now. I would think it was strange if I was dating you and you still lived with mommy and daddy. Shows lack of independence that's for sure.....Well I probably wouldn't start dating you in the first place if I knew you still lived at home. I had my own place when I was 19.

You're in college...that's not pathetic. If you had a career and a steady salary and still lived at home..that may fall into that category. Furthering your education is a legitimate reason for being under your parent's roof.

26 is not bad-especially since you are going to college. You know what is really sad? I know a 45 year old that never left home until his mother died. Yes there are women who would go out with you.

Well at least your in school. Some people would say no but some don't mind. Do you work? Do help your parents out? These are things that other would look at. Or are you just living it up.

my fiance's best friend is 26 and still lives at home. hes a cool guy, goes out with lots of girls, has tons of friends...good job, etc...i think theres a time that someone needs to move out but if your parents dont have a prob with it and youre still in school, i see no prob. just have some confidence in yourself and ull be just fine, especially if youre bettering yourself by getting an education!

Yes, you are pathetic. I worked hard and had my own home ready to move into the night I graduated. I like my privacy, also, our parents spend 18 years raising us, teaching us to be responsible, productive people in society. Don't you think you should respect them now? Give them their lives back? I mean come on!!! GROW UP!! You can go to college and hold down a job...What is WRONG with you?? Young people in this day & age have become so lax.
