So, I'm new here. And what I really want to know is why people feel compelled to leave snide, ill-informed answers to questions on subject matter that most consider 'taboo'?
(ie. ways to pass a drug test when you know you're not clean, infantilism and fetishism, etc)
Honestly, people are here to ask questions and look for informed answers, not to read feedback from closed minded, judgmental f***s. So, that's my question.. why leave your feedback if you have nothing constructive to add?

Some people prefer to think that they are right all the time. Others like to think that they are funny. Some people just enjoy being obnoxious.

The introduction to this forum encourages opinion, and the "point system" encourages random or short answers which people answer to advance to the next level. Also, sometimes what you might determine as closed minded and judgemental might be important for the asker or the person who answers. I find some snide answers constructive, as they occaisionaly get me to think of a perspective I normaly would have missed. Another point is many people see this forum as entertainment, almost a game, putting down the first thing that comes to mind, just to get to the next question. Some are very clever, and in some situations, can break the tension of a subject in a positive way, even if their intent was not. You do have a point though, it can be frustrating when obviously inappropriate questions or answers are presented.

Life is full of DIFFERENT folks. This could be a wake up call
for a lot of people. We will face this same question every day.
At school, on the job, in church. I don't even want to start on religious ignorance and opinionated stances. I try to be careful about being judgemental but where do you draw the line.
An ignorant or opinionated answer may be a feeble attempt for attention.

When you post a question in this type of forum you need to expect that a certain portion of the answers will be ignorant and opinionated. Some people think they are always right, some are truly ignorant, and some think that they are just being funny (even if they're not). Like all information on the Internet you have to wade through the junk to find the nuggets of truth.

To quote a source I cannot name; "99% of the people in this world are afflicted with stupid and the rest of us are in great danger of contagion." Being new, should you set yourself up for derisive and aggressive answers to your question.

I have heard that over 80% of the American population gets their news from Entertainment Tonight rather than a regular or cable news broadcast. This should point you to the obvious answer(s) to your question. (One that we should all ask).

Perhaps a simple and direct conclusion is best: the reason people post ignorant, opinionated answers is because people are ignorant and opinionated. Be aware that many will include you and I in this supposition.

When you ask questions on a forum such as this you leave yourself open to all kinds of uninformed people with useless, and opinionated answers. That is why if you ask a question here, you should take every answer with a grain of salt. If you can't handle it then you shouldn't ask questions here, you should go to a web site that is more specific to your needs, and you would be less likely to be criticized or judged.

I guess for the same reason people post questions about what annoys them or questions that really don't have a solid answer outside of opinion, rather than post questions to seek knowledge.
that reason would be because we all have the freedom to do so.
It's not an etiquette issue, it's a personality issue.

I totally agree with you. Some people are just ignorant and they get a kick out of leaving snide remarks to try and bring other people down. It's horrible how stupid some people can be.

Forums seem to bring out the worst in people. Anonymity allows all the creeps , wiseacres and perverse minded posters to come out of the woodwork.
I just try to ignore the ignorant questions and answers and concentrate on the ones I think make sense.
