LOL ... I have to laugh because over time, I'd often wondered the same thing.

See, cats are smart. They know when you're there, for the most part, you're going to be sitting there for awhile and during that time they sort of have you over a barrel so - to - speak. They know what you're doing.

Cats almost always want your undivided attention and this is a place they know that they can get it.

And it may be true, some cats may enjoy watching the toilet swirl when you get done... but none of mine have ever been interested. They just wanted me to pet them while I am still and they can fairly predict that I'm not going anywhere, at least for a few minutes.

:-) Smiles

My boy Joxer does the same thing. He is a cutie. So spoiled and always has to have my attention.

When I go potty if I shut the door he will stand there and meow till I open the door or if the door is cracked he will open it himself. Then he loves to come in and lay in my pants that are down below my ankles. Mind you, my panties are at my knees!

Anyway this is like a ritual. Something I guess pet owners just get used to. We may be strange to some people, but I love my pets more than humans.

He may also be trying to figure out why you're doing what you're doing where you're doing it....our cats were actually potty-trained for a couple of years. We used a kit to train them to use the toilet. They never flushed, though, so when we moved to a place with only one toilet we gave them back their litterbox!

It's just a habit the cat has. Mine do the same thing. One of my cats even likes to watch the water swirl when it's flushed.

There are some things that cats do on a regular basis, but if we
saw a human doing it we would worry about their mental state.
How many things on the following list can you identify with?

Sophie does this too. In her case, it's partly because I used to feed her in there so she probably thinks she's going to get something.

But it's probably just because you're a sitting target and can easily reach down for some petting.

its really quite simple. You (Humans), give off phermones that are pets go crazy for. It most occurs after the bathroom, after a shower and when you you take your shoes off.

Your cat just wants to be with you; he doesn't really know what you're doing. Mine do it, too.
