It is possible for it to vanish on its own. However, if that isn't happening, you can talk to you doctor about going on a regiment of tretinoin cream and a bleaching cream containing hydroquinone. These can usually lighten the area, your doctor can also add a topical steroidal compound, or even a chemical peel, if necessary.
