I knew he liked a girl at his work and believe she might have been a factor in our split, now they are going out and I don't know how to deal with it. I have been asked out a few times myself but just can't face the thought of it. My ex phones me all the time and we get on great, he told me he was thinking of asking to get back, but how could he go from thinking about me to now going out with her?

8 months is not along time, it can take two to three years to start to feel over someone, give yourself time, you will get over it.

If he wants someone else, then he's not the one for you.

The more you talk to him, or contact him, the longer it will take you to feel better. You need to stand back from situations, then you are able to think straight. Time really does change things.

He's on the rebound. It's normal to still have trouble getting over your split. 7 years is a long time to have spent with someone. Now you have to learn how to live on your own again, and it's gonna take awhile. You'll be alright, just be good to yourself and let yourself grieve. Best wishes.

honey i know its hard but this guy is playing mind games he himself doesnt know what he wants the phraze having your cake and eating it to comes to mind. he doesnt want to be with you but doesnt want anyone else to have you i think it would be best for you to completly lose contact with him its hard enough getting over someone after being with them for so long but you will never get over him if you speak all the time and he keeps thinking about asking you back. but dont just jump back into dating give yourself time to get to know yourself again because you will be so used to taking someone elses feelings into acount just have fun with your friends and when your ready then go for it good luck honey i hope this helps xxx
