Its a colour changing backlight on a range of Philips LCD Tv's The colours match those on screen and enhance the viewing experience. There may still be a demo. on the Philips website. It's actually quite an effective system.

Saw in working in Curry's the other day, if there is predominantly blue on the TV program, then it casts a blue light from the edges of the screen, onto your wall(it changes rapidly with the program). This is suppose to immerse you in the program and reduce eye strain. Looks good, but comes at a premium, not sure its worth it....

Phillips developed the "Ambilight"....it's a couple of light-bars located on the left/right side of the TV....When the major background color is blue....the ambilight turns blue and washes the wall with that blue color...same with red, green, yellow, purple etc....

Some of the Ambilights had to be upgraded for safety, but today's TVs are already upgraded.

Is it worth it? Not in my opinion.....it's a cool toy to play with....for about 2 weeks, then you'll stop using it.
