My girlfriend told me to take an enema once a day for a week?

I was really consipated and I took my first enema last night, my husband gave me half because the stool was there. i held it as long as I could and he had to spread my cheeks and it finally came out then he gave me the rest and really hard pieces of stool came out.

This sound like a "impaction" when this happens it is because of stool is hard at the anal canal.
You may want ask yourself why this is happening. Did you take some narcotic pain medications? They can constipate you.
If this is somthing that is happening all of the time, you probaly should follow up with a gastroenterologist. If this a one time or several time a year occurance. You need to add more fiber to your diet and drink allot of water. There are Stool softners that is sold over the counter. A Generic for a colace. Which is used very frequently. Colace does not cause diarrhea, but it simply softens the stool
You do not want to administer enema's everyday. That can be very dangerous.
Prolonged constipation can cause a long list of problems. Including painful hemorrhoids.
The best thing so this doesnt happen in the future is drink plenty of water, eat good fiber diet, take a stool softner if needed, and walking. Walking enduces peristalis, which is the wave like motion that happens in the intestines. This helps with proper digestion.

You don't have to take one once a day. That should have been enough. If you don't have a bowel movement in 3 days after this, do another one.
