There's a special deterrent nail paint containing Bitrex - tastes NASTY; that should stop her nibbling unless she's particularly stubborn.
However, nailbiting might be indicative of another underlying cause - keep an eye and make sure she's not being bullied at school or anything like that.

i am 20 year old man and have bitten my nails since i was about 2 or 3. (gross i know)
I do it due to nerves and when in uncomfertable situations. i have tried everything to stop but nothing has worked sadly.
i would reccomend to constantly point out to her that it is ok, watch her mood if it has changed slightly, perhaps she is getting upset more then she used to get.
Indeed try the detterents like the nail polish that you can buy to stop it, or even the glove idea mentioned above, however i would recommend that you watch her attitiude and general behaviour.
I hope that this helps you a bit

You could try that nasty tasting stuff. Although I know full well it won't work - I've been a nail biter all my life (I'm 40 now!) and my poor parents tried every trick in the book.
The good news is that because she's a girl she'll at least be able to wear false nails when she's older! My son bites his nails very badly and there's nothing we can do to disguise it :-(
(Cuddles gave some good suggestions - I'm impressed! Might try some of them myself!)

It's inside. It's her way of dealing with something. Has she lost her favourite teddy? Is there a new kid in nursery that makes her uneasy?
You can't stop her. She is an individual and if you are detemined to stop her she will only find other ways to deal with that she deals with now through nailbiting.
You could try see the world through her eyes and maybe it will lead to an understanding of that what has lead her to biting her nails.

it's nerves, buy some nail varnish in pretty colours and tell her you will paint her nails at the end of the week if she lets them grow, keep changing the colours so she don't get bored,

1) Have you tried the paint-on deterrent? It tastes really awful!
2) Make her wear gloves in the house, she'll get really tired of that...
3) Tell her that if she doesn't bite them for a whole week, she'll get a reward, then check every day.

whilst she is asleep, put something on the tips of her finger nails that she doesnt like, so when she goes to bite them, she will get a horrible taste and wont bite her nails. my mother used to tell me that my fingers will drop off if i keep biting them. tell her something horrible will happen if she keeps doing it.

Put something that tastes really awful on there. Obviously not something that is harmful.
