Drink a lot of water just prior, during and after your flight. Jet Lag, like a hangover, is caused by dehydration so avoid alcohol and caffeine if possible. Also, reset your watch to the new time zone as soon as you get on the plane to help you mentally adjust.

Good luck with the trip!

I travel transatlantic many times and have also done it just for the weekend many times. The best for me which always works is you really need to force yourself the first day to fall into the time zone when you land. You will be tired when you land but force yourself to stay awake. Take a nice shower and go out for dinner etc the important things is to keep yourself awake until it is night time in the time zone you are in. Also it is good to try and sleep as much as you can on the flight.

Good Luck

When you get there, force yourself to stay awake until a normal bed-time their time, not your local time at home. No matter how tired you are, stay up until at least 7pm, then go to bed. Your body clock will be set to US local time in the morning.

Jet-lag is the result of you going to bed when you're tired, ie. at lunchtime US time (or similar non-bedtime), and then wake up at 2 am, ready for the day. You have to force your body into the new local time ASAP.
