Why are you so stressed about these dried basil leaves? Did you get them for Christmas or something?

Smell them. That is what they add. When you taste, you only taste salty, bitter, sweet, and sour. Basil leaves really add more of an aroma than anything else. Basil is very common in italian cooking.

Look, you just need to try them out. No one is going to be able to explain it to you. If you really want to know what they add, they best way to find out is to just make tea out of it. Just steep them in hot water, and then taste the water, and taste some of the leaves too. Then you will know exactly what it will taste like.

Like basil that has dried out. Use it when you can't get fresh basil, It tastes just the same only less pungent. As a result you must add more!
