I'm sure the PDSA can help you if you take proof of the benefits that you receive. If you check their website, it should tell you everything you need to know.
As for these judgemental no-goods that have posted, moaning their heads off, you don't know this man's circumstances. The PDSA exists so that it can help those that are less well-off. The man obviously cares about his pet otherwise he wouldn't bother to seek advice so get off your high-horses and pray you're never in a situation where you need this kind of help.

Sorry but this is not true.
You will be able to get treatment for your dog from a local animal welfare charity. Call up the contacts in your local yellow pages etc. They will advise you and may be able to refer you to a local vet as some cover costs in this way.
Blue Cross and PDSA are the best national charities for this kind of help but it is likely there will be smaller local organisations too.
Goodluck.

vet bills are not paid by the social. It was your choice to take in the dog and you musyt have done that knowing that you would have to pay vet bills at some time. If you live in a city you can look for a PDSA clinic where you will only be asked for a donation once you bring proof of benefits, otherwise phone some vets. If you are getting CA then your wife must be on DLA.
DLA + CA + income support is not a pittance at all. I get DLA and can afford to support myself AND pay vet bills as they occur.
How can you possible say you cannot afford vet bills when you don't even know how much they will be? You had better take out pet insurance for £6 a month or so, then you won't have to worry about vet bills.
I have little patience with people who make lifestyle choices and then expect others to pay for them. YOU chose to get the dog, he is YOUR responsibility.

Fenlandfowl is right on this one. I live alone and support a myriad of animals. Hard work, and I totally agree with people who say, well it's your choice. My former partner was on DLA and his paycheck was more than I earn in a month. I don't agree with having a dog that seems unwell, and you're messing about on the computer, instead of getting it to the vet. When my Bearded Collie collapsed with a haemorrhagic tumour on the spleen, surgery cost £1,000 and I didn't waste time getting her to surgery. Sorry mate, sell the computer.

You need to phone your nearest pdsa vets and they will make you a appointment. You will need to take proof of your benefits, when you go for your appointment they will not charge you but they give you a envelope to leave a donation. hope this helps

The PDSA should be able to help you, youll need to register the dog with them and take proof of the benefits receive. Take no notice of some of these morons, take good care of your wife whilst you can, although I have known carers allowance to be money from your wifes Disability allowance, so I dont see the point in it, see if your wife is entitled to anymore benefits.
