Pros: They are nice to look at (depending on who you ask) and they're fun to play with. Some people have experienced heightened sensitivity, but having both horizontal and vertical nipple piercings, I haven't noticed that change.
Cons: They can migrate, either a bit or completely out. Nipple piercings are tricky because if not done right and not taken care of, you'll have problems galore. The area is rather prone to infection since your clothing catches on the piercing and harbors skin cells and bacteria.
The piercing takes a while to heal. The average healing time is about 8 months, but can be well over a year for some people, obviously the cleaning and upkeep daily can be a bit much for some people.
If there is something you want to know specific, you can ask me or call a local professional piercer and speak with them about your questions and concerns.

If you take care of the piercing and have it done by someone who knows what they are doing, Nipple piercings can be great fun and they look wonderful.
I'm not going to lie to you, they hurt when you get them pierced, but I have both of mine done and I wouldn't have it any other way. The sensitivity alone is worth the pain from the piercing. After care for any piercing is vital to how it heals.
The day after you get your nipples done, you should take a q-tip with some unscented anti-bacterial soap and clean them. The way this is done is like so: start at the edge closest to the nipple and rotate the ring out until the opposite edge is flush against your nipple, starting at the nipple, clean the piercing from insinde out. Rinse the Jewelery off and rotate the other way, repeat cleaning and rinsing. Center the hoop and if you have the other nipple done repeat the previous steps. Be sure to change the q-tip a few times during cleaning.
WARNING!!: Do not clean your pierceing more than 1-2 times a day, as this could and does cause over drying and could lead to your skin cracking and that really really hurts.
WARNING!!: Use only unscented soap, as the chemicals that make scented soap smell good also have a tendency to irritate the area around the piercing and that could lead to infection.
Other than that, have fun and find a good Piercer in your area to do this.

I have had my nipples pierced for over a year now and over all I love it. It was a painful process and recovery though. They seemed to take longer than my other piercings to heal and stop hurting. Besides the way it looks I can not say there were any pros for me. But my boyfriend loves them and I think that is a plus! I haven't had a hightened sensitivity with them. Cons is pain and risks of infection. If for some reason I had to take them out and they healed I wouldn't do it again. There were times I wondered if the soreness was worth it. But I have a friend who didn't have as much problems with pain as I did.

For me, there are no pro's, and every con on the list, but that may because I have always seen altering the body you were born with, as a form of self-immolation. It's the only body you've got. Love it as it is. I know that there are many precedents for adorning the body - the African ladies who have rings added regularly around their necks until they become impossibly elongated, South American tribes who slice through their upper lip and insert larger and larger discs, and tattooing and piercing are almost universal. What I have noticed among some aquaintances of mine, particularly with regard to tattoos and piercing, is that they can become apparently addicted to their passion. A tiny diamond stud in the nose can grow into a desire for a ring in the navel, and so on and so on. It may just be me, but I can see no attraction in pierced genital regions!
And just to make it clear that my view is not borne of fear of pain, I sat upright and watched my own vasectomy with great fascination! Final thought - all body adornmentments can look cool when you're young, but if you're lucky, one day you'll be 50, 60, 70, maybe 80. Think how all the ladies who've had silicone implants will look when they're 75...!

Hey Girl - Had mine done years ago now...I do miss it just a bit....k, so pro's : wicked fun, looks sexy
con's: hurt really bad to get done (my plan was to do both but hurt too much - but maybe you've got good tolerance so get 'em both!) one other con is that it took about 7 months to FULLY heal and then I could start having fun. Healing is a *****.
Hope this helps. :)

the pros: they look cool, i like to see them and play with them
the cons: possibility of developing a flesh eating disease from infection, plain old infectons... these lead to the removal of the breast.

I have a good friend who had them both done. She loves it and says they make them more sensitive. I have thought about it but don't have the courage.
