I have a young falcon as pet. He'd be a pre-teen if he a human. My father bought it from someone who had chained him on a pole a couple days ago. My father did this because of pity coz he found it on the downtown. We live sub-urban nearby Jakarta. We've planned to release him on the wild after he grow-up well. Could someone tell me how to treat him best for these time being? What's to eat. What's to do with him. etc..

All sugestions will be consider as help to the young falcon :)

I would contact a Zoo or a Shelter who has experience doing such things. If you raise him like a housepet he'll likely die when you release him. Not to mention it's probally illegal to own such animals without a permit. Unless you have a large aviary where he can learn to fly and learn to hunt for his own food and stay away from people I'd say you need to turn him over.

Unfortunately if you release him he will probably die. He wont know how to survive in the wild. I would contact the zoo where you live. They may be able to refer you to a wildlife rehabilitator who can teach the bird to hunt and survive on its own. In the meantime I would feed the bird bits of meat. A friend of mine here who does wild life rehabiliation uses beef heart. You are very kind to try to help this bird.

Is it legal to own such a bird where you live? It is illegal in most countries, and if illegal where you live I would suggest getting it to a wildlife rehab or zoo in your area where they can insure the proper care and diet so that the bird can be releaseable.

If you truely love wildlife , you will get the bird to a rehabilitation center. They will know what to do to help it make its way back to its freedom and survival.

First you have to kill him, then pluck the feathers and then clean him. Put him in a pan with a little water in the oven, set it at 375 degrees and cook for 30 minutes. Serve with stuffing, gravy, potatos, and green beans. Does this help?
