It could possibly be a hint. In my case as a single woman, I'd say it is. I have to admit, I have done this exact thing myself.

drop a hint and do some fishing. dont be cheesy and hopefully you get your answer. on the other hand you could be straight forward and get your answer quicker but run the risk of upsetting her
