Not only is it possible for fraternal twins to have different fathers, it has actually happened.

There's even a medical term for it: superfecundation.

The classic case, which is discussed in Williams Obstetrics (1980), was recorded in 1810 by John Archer, the first doctor to receive a medical degree in the United States.

Superfecundation is possible because fraternal twins result from two separate eggs fertilized independently. Some think it happens fairly often, but until recently it was difficult to prove, due to the crudeness of the traditional testing method, which involved comparing blood types.

In 1978, however, Dr. Paul Terasaki of the UCLA School of Medicine reported in the New England Journal of Medicine that he and his colleagues had conclusively established a case of superfecundation using a sophisticated procedure called tissue or HLA (human leukocyte antigen) testing. This technique can also be applied to more conventional cases. Prospective paternity-suit litigants, take note.

DNA testing now works even better to prove this out.

Ok you got the terminology wrong. PATERNAL means father, such as your PATERNAL grandmother is the mother of your father and a PATERNITY test is a DNA test to determine if a person is the father of a baby. FRATERNAL twins can have different fathers. They are made from different sperm meeting different eggs, therefore those different sperm could be from different men if the mother had sex with 2 or more men around the time she got pregnant. It would be no different than a woman having 2 children from 2 different fathers several years apart, they just happen to grow at the same time instead of separate times.

It's EXTREMELY rare, but yes. A woman would have to pass 2 eggs and then have sex with 2 different men in the same 24 hour period. It HAS been known to happen.

It is possible, mostly if the women had sex with two men on the same day. But it is very unlikely. I only ever heard of one confirmed case of it in my life.
