It can be done, but you really have to work hard. I majored in both French and Spanish. I did not usually get the languages confused at all. I could shift from one to the other fairly well. In fact, my knowledge of Spanish helped my French, and vice versa. But the down side of it is that it really takes a lot of time and effort to even learn one language well. Therefore, when you pick up another one, you risk not learning either language well, because of not having enough time and effort for both languages. But if you think you can put in the time and effort required, then go for it. Only you know yourself well enough to know if you can put in the hard work required.

Good luck!

I don't think learning Spanish will affect your progress in French. I'm a French speaker and I learn Spanish, the two languages are quite different even if they have the same origin.

If you love what you're doing and have the time to do it then go for it! I love learning languages too but I don't have so much time! I'm Greek so I learnt English, a bit of French and now I'm learning Italian!!

I don't balieve that your French will be affected by Spanish, don't forget that you'll live there so nothing could easily affect your French!!

Good luck!!!

I love languages too! Currently I'm learning French AND Japanese, and then I'm gonna learn German and hopefully Italian and Chinese! Don't worry, you're not alone when it comes to language learning! Really, I don't think it's too hard....however, I DO get some words mix up! I want to add "Le" infront of every Japanese sentence I say and "Desu" (Said like "Dess". It kinda means "Is, It, Am, ect...) after every French sentence I say. But actually learning 2 languages at the same time isn't too hard. Not to me, atleast. I'm taking French lessons, and then teaching myself Japanese. Good luck! You might get some mixed up, but that's normal!

if there is a great desire to learn a certain thing, it is very possible to happen. i think you can study 2 languages at the same time b'coz you said you're a fast learner. and i think you should take it step by step for you not to be in conlfict. another factor that will help you to learn 2 languages at the same time is having a good instructor. i hope you'll continue your desire to learn new languages. God bless you and good day.
