I have wanted to get a tattoo that represents my love for God and my family. Some tell me it is a sin to do such a thing to the temple of God. Some go as far to say that Jesus, himself had a tattoo. Would it be "hypicritical" or "ironic" to get one? What about piercings?

When it spoke of *tattoos* in the Old Testament, it was talking a mark on the body as a sign in worshiping a Pagan god. I am not saying its OK to get one, use your own judgment. A tattoo is NOT required to show your love for God, it is in your heart. The ONLY *tattoos* Christ had is the scars in His hands, feet, and His side where he was pierced when he was crucified on the cross on Calvary.

Religious morons will say anything they don't like is a sin. Drinking is a sin.. unless it is part of your service.. cards are sinful unless the church has a bingo parlor. Do what YOU want to do in the way YOU want to do it and ignore the people who believe they are making the rules of God. I have never once heard of a tattoo being a sin and I went to two religious schools growing up...

You may want to ask those who tell you these things to prove what they say or ask if they thing they are the ruler of God - yes, THAT IS a sin to tell other you command God

Yes it is a sin because God says in Leviticus 19:28 'Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD' I know because my cousin told me a few yrs ago when I was gonna get one. I was not happy! I really wanted a rose on my ankle and a butterfly on my shoulder.
Oh well have to use fake ones lol.

A tattoo is just a decoration and doesn't normally injure your body. If you want to talk about big sins; talk about worshiping that engraven image of the cross at your church.

Well, if you're Jewish, it's looked on as a sin, and you have to be buried in a separate section in the cemetery.

If it was god wouldn't have created the inventor of tattoos. Hope I could help!

It's not what is on the outside of a person that corrupts them,it's what is on the inside.

You shall not make any cuts in your body for the dead, nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves: I am the LORD.
