download the program below. from now onwards u wont have no trouble when playing media files. it plays most files available.

AVI files can be viewed in almost all media player.
Windows Media player, Power DVD, Winamp, Jet player etc.

Download Media Player Classic. U can get it by downloading either Real Alternative software or Quicktime Alternative as Media Player Classic comes bundled with them. They are totally free. Also download FFdshow filter (generic versions) as MPC + FFdshow as a great combination.

Avi is a container that could contain various types of video or audio. My personal favorite is vlc, it's lite and will play about anything. It can also stream over the web or your network.
