She is a single female that has laid (for the 1st time) 2 eggs in the last 5 days-I read somewhere that they can lay anywhere from 4-8 eggs-one every 2 days...so far that has been the case but how do I know when she is done- she still has the large "poop" and I read that is a sign that she has eggs but what can I do- She is very very very tame and use to spending a alot of time out of the cage so I feel bad not taking her out as much...She is kinda sitting on the eggs- mostly at night- when I'm here she want to come out....Any tips or advice please? I read so many articles on this but haven't found the answer....Do they lay eggs more than once a year also?

Don't have a lot of experience with tiels, but I do know that she won't lay as many the first time as she will, when more mature. Room temp will be fine for the eggs (75 or so), indoors, while she is feeding or playing. Don't change your routine with her, especially since the eggs aren't fertile, and she is still new to the egg-laying thing. Keep her relationship with you stable, and make sure she has a cuttlebone, or some kind of calcium supplement!!If she's not pecking the eggs open, leave them in there for awhile, and it should stop the egg-laying cycle for several months at least. The instinct is to sit, and raise that brood to well past the weaning age, before it repeats itself. Ask a vet if you can maybe tell if she has more eggs left by feeling her tummy??? Birdman
