For life partner or best female friend yes they need both cause they share lots of things to each other.. they need most intelligence besides the beauty..but just for flirt and sexual enjoyment they don't care about intelligence they need just beauty for that......

Well, I will be downright honest with you..beauty attracts people..if I was trying to talk to a random girl in the room then I would go in for the most beautiful one..however, if i had a circle of friends or simply acquaintances or colleagues etc who I regularly talked to and noticed that one girl was particularly intelligent and her thoughts on various subjects etc matched mine and was also a good conversationalist, then I would fall in love with her regardless of how she looked.Ok fine, with a little regard to how she looked...there, you happy???

a certain amount of personal "beauty" is necessary (in another country I heard the term "daylight-suitable"), but a certain amount of intelligence-compatibility is a necessity.

i would say in some cases yes some no depends mostly on how high your GPA was (stupid people tend to like women with nice bodies and smart guys usually go for mind)
