Having always had long hair myself, I can see why she flipped, it's a big deal for her to make such a drastic change. But hair will grow back, so don't worry about it. I think in this case you can tell a little white lie ...
Stunning long curly hair, eh? How nice, I'd have loved curly hair, my own is long and naturally wavy. But I suppose we all like a change ...

well, girls love prays to how nice they look, and good things about them. That is one thing you need to alway remember. So tell them something straight forward usually doesn't work very well, try sugar coating them. and try to say something like, "it looks nice, etc. But I think will be better if (fill in your opinion here and give the reason why), but it still looks good what you have done." Well, if you do not have time, then just say it looks very nice. They will always love it.

Nope.... she knew how u felt about it and got it done anyway, she can't expect u to change ur opinion overnight. Maybe u should only focus on the bits u like, or thought were ok, and not say anything bout the bits u didn't like.

Man, keep it real.
She asked your opinion but really didn't care about your opinion. She knew she was going to change the style regardless of what you said.
BTW, She just wanted an excuse to flip out on you -- expect another episode shortly ....

ok - we do get a shock when a guy gives us a negative answer - but if she asked you - you were more than within your right to be honest!
She may have just been a bit hurt - we all love getting compliments when we try something new - give her a day or two and she'll come crawling! xx

You should have said "I like the front," and left it at that.
My boyfriends response in situations like this is usually "Wow, it's a big change, but I bet once I get used to it I'll like it," or sometimes, when he is into the little white lie "I like it both ways."

I believe that someone's hair shouldn't change the way you feel about someone, but if you don't like it...I'd be honest with her. Even if she doesn't like you're reaction to her new haircut...she'll probably take your advice and go back to the way it was originally.
