Hi there again Donna...kittens are rambunctious bundles of energy and to discourage inappropriate scratching it's best to pull away gently or pick up the kitten quietly and put them down on the ground without any fuss and give a time out. Nearly all cats are notorious affection magnets and dislike it when they don't get any attention so this is a form of kind punishment. When the kitten is behaving well you can then return to petting it, but as soon as it begins scratching or biting pull away once again. Over time with repetition a cat learns that it will get attention when it doesn't bite/scratch, but is ignored when it does. Kittens have short-term memories so it's important to be consistent with this method of discipline. Not only does this method work and is kind, but also makes for a much nicer and behaved cat when it is older.

Another thing that is helpful is to consider trimming your kittens nails regularly. It blunts the nails and is less painful when you are scratched as well. Kittens are still young enough to learn to be accepting of having their feet and nails touched. Here's an instructional video by Cornell University Collge of Veterinary Medicine of Feline Health on how to trim nails safely and easily: http://www.felinevideos.vet.cornell.edu/trimming_claws/index.shtml

My cat was similar when she was a kitten - she particularly loved climbing up the insides of people's skirts. Even worse was when she climbed up my dad's leg - such a pity he was wearing shorts that day...
Hiss at him, clap your hands - any sort of loud noise to startle him. And make sure he has plenty to keep her occupied, like toys and catnip. A spray bottle filled with water is usually effective too, though you might have fun trying to aim for him when he's on your back! :)

I had a cat once who did that. He eventually outgrew it. I think it's just kitteny behavior. You could try saying "NO" in a loud voice, or hissing the way a mama cat would do. Startling sometimes helps a kitten control himself.

That's kinda what they do. Kittens have TONS of energy and like to play a lot. That's pretty much what he's doing. It's easier if you have two kittens, or toys. Give him something to do/focus his attention on, scratching post, katnip, time... He just has a ton of energy and is inquisitive/exploring.

Get him a cat tree that he can climb to his heart's delight. Then maybe he'll stop using you as his "tree" (hee hee hee). Actually, as your cat matures, this kitten behavior will stop - cat becomes a little more "dignified."

Get one of those cat scratchy poles, made of carpet, which also saves your furniture. Also, when it jumps on you, hiss at it really REALLY loudly, and smack it on the nose. Mine was doing that, and it soon learnt. She's only about 10 weeks now, so it does work.
