The Bible never says drinking wine is a sin, but it does admonish against being a drunkard. If you drink, it should be in moderation because when you're heavily intoxicated, you do and say things you normally wouldn't. You are not fully in control of yourself. I'm a Christian, and I have an occasional glass of wine. I don't get drunk. You just need to exercise good judgement.

Carol M, you are incorrect. They most definately drank fermented wine, not grape juice. Why do you think Ephesians 5:18 warns against getting drunk: "Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit."

If it were only grape juice, what would be the harm in drinking it?

The Christian religion doesn't view drinking alcohol as a sin, or didn't originally. What the religion is against is harming the body. (It says in the Bible that the body is a temple.) Excessive alcohol or drug consumption is harmful to the body. A little wine is actually good for health. The reason religions now have a problem with alcohol consumption is because people have taken it too far. Now many overly self-righteous religious people think all drinking is bad because so many people are addicted to alcohol. Getting staggering drunk still probably isn't a-ok with Jesus, but having a glass of wine with dinner is fine.

Jesus made what was called "new wine"-From H6072; must or fresh grape juice (as just trodden out): - juice, new (sweet) wine.

It did not have an alcohol content in it. Jesus would never put anything inside His body that was considered to be uncleaned, for He knew it was a temple of God.

To get drunk is a sin. To drink alcohol causes you to drop your guard and allow satan to lead you into doing things you would not normally do if you weren't drunk. There are a lot of people who use the water into wine and Jesus drinking wine at the last supper as an excuse for them to drink it and get drunk, when Jesus did not drink the alcoholic wine, but the freshly made grape juice.

It was unfermented wine. Also some people who try to follow Christ's example goes by what He said at the "Last Supper" He told His disciples that He would NOT drink it again until He drank it with them in the Kingdom of Heaven. (paraphrased) It is in all four Gospels.

Most reliegions condone drinking alcohol because of it being abused. When Jesus drunk wine and shared it with his freinds it was a SYMBOLIC gesture, the bread is my body and the wine my blood. It is so that everyone feels Jesus become part of themselves.

The Bible tells that getting drunk is a sin. Not necessarily to drink moderately.

I think it was non-fermented wine. Plus, a lot about religion makes no sense.
