I was given "crime scene info"(how he died), and I went to the cops here, but they are small and the murder took place 20 years ago. I gave a statement, but nothing was done, and I wasnt contacted when I called a month later, like I'm some crackpot. The guy who was killed, I was friends with his son and would like to see justice done. If anything, I know who was in the room when it happened, all they have to do is contact and interrogate that person.

You have the right to contact your State police at anytime including during a routine stop by the Locals. Try a news service as well nothing gets the cops out of the donut shop like a reporter and a story.

Definitely go to the State Police about it. The problem is, the stature of limitations is up- I know its 7 years in my state. After 7 years of an unsolved crime (I don't know if murder applies), there is nothing they can do about it. But go to your Staties anyway. Tell them that you think your information wasn't handled correctly, and ask about the stature of limitations. If nothing is done then, contact your congressman. That's what he/she is there for!

Hi, I work old cold cases all the time, get in touch with me by email and I'll help your friend out. (There is no statute of limitations on murder, the one answer you got above is wrong.)
There's a way to do it, but it's hard to get them woke up, I've gone back 23 years on one case and we literally "blew the dust off" the box when they took it off the shelf. Took two days to close it after all that time!

if I'm not mistaken, the state police have jurisdiction over your local authorities, and then you have the FBI. just remember most everybody has superiors or bosses. you cant get help, and if you know you are right..........then try talking to the media. 48 hours might like to help you get to the heart of it...but be sure that the killer or whatever, and his family may retaliate. and make sure you have all your facts very very clear. good luck

Try Greta Van Susteran from the Fox News Channel. She's a lawyer who does stories like this on her news show.

Call your Congressman now that they are back in session. Maybe he/she can make some phone calls to shake the tree a bit.
